Located near Langebaanweg in the Western Cape, South Africa, is a renowned paleontological site approximately 150 kilometers north of Cape Town. This significant site preserves exceptionally well-preserved fossil remains dating back about 5 million years, offering a glimpse into a time when the West Coast was lush and teeming with diverse fauna.

Fossil Exhibitions: Visitors can explore fossils of over 200 different animal species, including the first known mammoth, short-necked giraffes, and saber-toothed cats.
Guided Tours: The park offers guided tours where guests can see fossils in situ and learn about the ancient environments and creatures that once inhabited the area.
Activities: Beyond fossil viewing, the park features mountain bike trails, a self-guided 3 km Restoration Trail through indigenous flora and fauna, and a children’s play area.

Route: Take the R27 highway (West Coast Road) northbound from Cape Town.
Distance: Travel approximately 120 km along the R27.
Turnoff: Look for the R45 turnoff to Langebaanweg and turn right.
Destination: The West Coast Fossil Park will be on your right-hand side along the R45.
